Intelligent Charging Solutions for Nickel-Based (NiMH/NiCd) Batteries
Effective fast charging of Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) batteries requires precise charge control.
Our dedicated chargers utilize proven termination methods to ensure safety and maximize battery life.
Reliable Charge Termination
Our chargers primarily employ two established techniques:
Negative Delta Voltage (–ΔV): During a constant-current charge, a fully charged nickel-based battery exhibits a characteristic voltage drop.
The charger monitors for this slight decrease relative to the peak voltage and terminates the charge cycle.
Temperature Rate of Increase (dT/dt): As the battery nears full capacity, its temperature rises at an accelerated rate.
By monitoring a thermistor within the battery pack, the charger detects a temperature increase exceeding 1°C per minute and safely stops charging.
Comprehensive Safety & Control
A built-in safety timer serves as a final backup, halting the charge after a preset duration if primary termination methods are not triggered, thereby preventing overheating.
An initial delay timer prevents premature termination during the early stage of charging, which is especially important for batteries that have been in long-term storage.
Fully Programmable for Optimal Performance
Each charger is built around a microprocessor that can be programmed via computer.
This allows for precise customization of charge parameters—including termination method, current,
and voltage thresholds—to match the specific requirements of your battery pack, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
